Simply Put: 

1. Join Amateur-angler.com (membership is FREE) You now have your on-line fishing log.
2. Check for the start date of the next tournament
3. Register for a tournament (at least 12 hours prior to start date) You will be half of the tournament code, the last three didgits will be posted on our home page the night befo the tournament..
4. Have fun and Go Fishing.
5. Take pictures of you catch remember to follow Amateur-Angler rules for photo taking for tournament entries. Photos must show measuring device. (Fish that are only for fishing log can be taken any way you like.)
6. Enter your catch and upload your photo.
7. Check fishing logs to see the leaders, and learn what they caught as well as  what they used.
8. After Amateur-Angler validates the photos and entire information, winners will be declared.(usually within 48 hours)

Members are solely responsible to obey all Local And State Fishing regulations.

General Information:

Trout tournaments will begin in MARCH and run threw the end of JUNE. There will be a minimum of 12 tournaments.

BASS tournament will begin in JUNE and run threw DECEMBER. There will be a minimum of 21 tournaments.

VAREOS SPECIES tournaments will be held threw out the year. The number of tournaments will vary depending on the popularity of tournaments. The more competitors, the more tournaments.



All competitors must post their entry by 12 pm following the ending date of the tournament entered. Photographs are required.  There is no maximum number of fish that can be entered, enter as many fish as you catch. All photos and information submitted into fishing log become the property of Amateur Angler.
All winners are at the sole discretion of Amateur-Angler. Amateur-Angler reserves the right to disqualify any entry for, but not limited to the following: Entries posted after tournament dates have ended, no photograph with entry, suspicion of cheating, suspicion of over exaggerating entry.
In the event of a tie, the next heaviest catch of that species will be used to determine a winner. If the next heaviest catch is a tie then the third heaviest catch will be used to determine a winner. This process will continue until a winer is determined. If all entries are equal then the prize will be awarded to the Angler that has the most entries of that species. If all weights and entries are equal, Amateur Angler will randomly select a winner.



Residents of Vermont, Maryland, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Tennessee, and those under 18 years of age are not eligible to compete, but are welcome to become members and enjoy the use of their personal On-Line Fishing Logs


SPECIES: 

1.  You may enter as many fish as you like. Only one prize will be awarded per member per tournament.
2. You will be judged on a combination of weight and fish size.
3. All fish must be caught alive using legal methods.
4. Members are responsible to follow state rules and regulations.
5. No fish may be caught in fish culture stations, Fish and Pay lakes, private ponds or fishing preserves.
6. Entries will be disqualified is fish show signs of improper handling.

   Fish may only be used in one tournament. Tournament codes are for one and only one tournament.

    

   PHOTOS:

   1. Photos must be taken with a digital camera. Cell phone cameras and video camera photos will not be accepted.
   2. 3 Mega Pixel is the minimum.
   3. Resolution must be set to largest setting
   4. File type must be JPEG
   5. Quality must be set to high
   6. Any photo showing signs of manipulation will be disqualified.
   7. Photos must be uploaded in the unedited JPEG format in which they were taken. (Do not name file) 
   8. Images of poor quality may be disqualified, at the discretion of Amateur Angler.
   9. One Photo must clearly show the measuring device. 
   10. One Photo must show clearly show the fish being held close to the Anglers chest.
       
       
       

   

    

   Prizes:

   Winners will be given there choice of A Bass Pro Shop Gift Certificate or a Check. Prize winnings may be subject to state and local taxes. Amateur Angler assumes no responsibility for failure to adequately report your winnings.

   All protest must be submitted via email within 24 hours of a winner being declared. All claims and/or disputes will be examined, and all decisions rendered by Amateur Angler will be final. Amateur Angler reserves the right to refuse any application. Members that refuse to cooperate will be disqualified. 

   Cancellation:

   Amateur Angler reserves the right to add, delete, or modify the list of eligible species, enhance, change, alter, or terminate the tournaments at any time.

    

   General release:

   Fishing presents hazards at any time: weather, faulty equipment and poor seamanship, to name a few. As a condition of entering the tournaments and/or becoming a member of Amateur Angler the participant fully indemnifies Amateur Angler and all it's employees, directors, representatives and agents.

   Modifications:

   These rules may be amended or modified by Amateur Angler in its sole discretion at any time. Any such amendments will be posted to the page and will apply to any transactions and events that occur after the effective date thereof. It is your responsibility to review this page from time to time for such amendments.

    

   Prizes:

    Prizes will be awarded to the top three fish caught and entered in each region during posted tournament dates. The term prize purse will be used to mean the amount of money per region to be awarded for tournaments winners.
   
   As the number of competitors in each region increase so will the prizes awarded. 
   For regions between one and one hundred competitors the prize purse will equal three dollars per competitor, and awarded at 60% for first prize,  25% for second prize, and 15% for third prize.
   
   For each competitor per region with between one hundred and one to two hundred competitors the total prize amount awarded for that region will increase by two dollars per competitor, and awarded at 50% for first prizes, 30% for second prize, and 20% for third prize.
   
   For each region with between two hundred and one to three hundred competitors the total prize amount awarded will increase by five percent of annual entry fee per competitor. This increase in prize winnings will be divided evenly between first, second, and third prizes.  
   
   

         FREE TOURNAMENT RULES:

Free tournament rules are the same as paid tournaments with the exception of Prize amounts, regions and Photos.

Prize amounts will be based on the total membership of Amateur Angler and will be announced on the home page on the eve of the tournament.

Regions may be combined into as few as one national region. The number of regions will vary with prizes and total membership of Amateur Angler.

Photos will still be required, but the photograph showing the measuring device must also clearly display the tournament code. This can be simple done with a piece of paper and a marker. The tournament code will be displayed on the home page on the eve of the tournament.
