While fishing on Spruce Run one day, my boat felt very sluggish as I headed away from the boat luanch. Not wanting to ruin my day I figured I just needed to have my engine tuned up. A little frustrated, but intent on having a good day of fishing, I continued on to my favorite spot. After a little while longer, I also noticed that the bow of my boat seemed to be higher out of the water than normal. Not putting two and two together I continued.
About half way from the dock to my spot, my friend, who was in the back of questioned why his feet were getting wet. There was no need to be a Math Wiz at this point. The boat acting sluggish + the bow high out of water + water in the back of the boat = I FORGOT TO PUT THE PLUG IN THE BOAT.
We headed to the closest shore line, put the plug in, and waited for the bilge pump to remove the water. After a while we enjoyed a great day of fishing.
I guess that a sluggish boat isn't always engine trouble.
(Remember to always keep a spare plug onboard your boat)
