ATTITUDE

It’s all in the ATTITUDE!
We have all heard the expression “practice makes perfect”. The same ideology goes for bass fishing. With all that practices comes confidence. Your mental attitude makes a huge difference on what kind of fishing day you are going to have. What you will learn from talking to even the top professional fishermen is that everyone takes a different approach. Even with all their different approaches, they have all met with success after lots of experimenting. No matter what you do, you have to work at it and your attitude must stay positive. Always imagine that the next move is going to be your best move. If you don’t have a good day, then take a mental review of what you did that day and resolve to make a change the next day. If bass fishing were routine, where would the fun be? Confidence increases with practice and “practice makes perfect”. Have fun!
Fishing is not as easy as it looks. Ask my wife about fishing and she will tell you it is the dullest sport out there. She comes fully loaded with magazines and suntan lotion prepared to spend the day lounging in the sun. Any fisherman will tell you that there are physical and mental skills involved in order for you to be successful. A good angler is very observant of his surroundings. It’s important to hear a fish feeding on baitfish behind you as you are casting towards another target. The sound of the splash will tell you how big the fish might be. Then you can turn around and make bait adjustments accordingly. It’s important to learn how to work a lure so that it appears lightweight and doesn’t disturb the fish in their natural surroundings. When the fish aren’t biting you must move on which means wading or boating from place to place. If you’ve ever worn waders, you know how heavy they can be waist deep under water. The most important part of the sport is why I started this Amateur-Angler Site. Fishermen, whether they are professional or amateur, are always able to recall the circumstances surrounding their catch. They can recollect what type of lure they used, speed of retrieval, water depth, the weather, time of day, and much more for years and years. My wife will ask me how I remember all this but can’t remember to take the garbage out every Monday. Happy fishing and don’t forget to log in your results to Amateur-Angler.com!
